Overview

A mobile CPR training platform that pairs a smartphone app with a sensor-equipped manikin, turning hands-on practice into measurable, guided training. Rather than relying on an instructor’s eye alone, trainees see how their compressions are actually performing — in real time, on their own device.

The challenge

Effective CPR comes down to getting compression rate and depth right, but in practice that feedback is usually subjective and only available while an instructor is watching. The project needed to capture what the manikin physically senses and turn it into clear, immediate feedback a trainee can act on for themselves.

What we built

Sensor-equipped manikin sync

The app connects to a training manikin fitted with sensors, streaming its readings to the phone during a session so every compression is captured as it happens.

Real-time technique feedback

Compression performance is surfaced live on the device, letting trainees correct their rate and depth in the moment rather than discovering mistakes afterwards.

Mobile-first training

Delivered as a React Native app across iOS and Android, putting guided CPR practice directly on the trainee’s own phone — no specialised hardware beyond the manikin.

Cloud-backed sessions

Firebase provides the cloud backend — data storage and real-time sync for training sessions — so practice records persist without a custom server to maintain.
